Superworms are a popular live feeder insect loved by a wide range of reptiles, amphibians, and even some birds. Packed with energy and movement, their wriggling behavior stimulates natural hunting instincts—making them a great choice for picky or active eaters.
Great for feeding to:
• Bearded Dragons
• Leopard Geckos
• Crested Geckos (occasionally)
• Chameleons
• Blue Tongue Skinks
• Savannah Monitors and other medium-large lizards
• Frogs and Toads (Pacman frogs, White’s Tree Frogs, etc.)
• Turtles
• Birds (like chickens, quail, and insectivorous species)
• Sugar Gliders and hedgehogs (as a treat)
Nutritional Profile
• Protein: 19–20%
• Fat: 14–15%
• Fiber: 2–3%
• Moisture: 58–60%
• Calcium: 0.1%
• Phosphorus: 0.2%
• Calcium-to-Phosphorus Ratio: ~1:20 (very poor)
Feeding Notes:
• Superworms are high in fat, making them an excellent treat or energy boost—especially for growing reptiles or those needing to put on weight.
• Due to their low calcium content, it’s recommended to dust them with calcium powder before feeding.
• Can be tong-fed or offered in a shallow dish; refrigerating is not recommended as it can kill them (unlike mealworms).
Storage Tip:
Keep superworms at room temperature in a ventilated container with a substrate like oats or wheat bran, and offer sliced veggies (like carrots or potatoes) for hydration.
