Lighting: Prefers bright, indirect light. It can tolerate low light but grows best under moderate to high lighting. Artificial lights like LEDs or fluorescent bulbs work well for supporting growth.

Humidity/Watering: Being a floating plant, Duckweed needs to be in water at all times. It does best in calm watersbut can float in stagnant or slow-moving water.

pH: Duckweed prefers a slightly acidic to neutralpH range, around 6.0 to 7.5. It can handle a wider pH range but thrives in stable, slightly acidic conditions.

Water Flow: Calm to low water flowis best. Strong currents can push Duckweed out of the water or break apart the floating mats.

Maintenance:

Regular removal: Duckweed grows rapidly and can quickly cover the surface of an aquarium or pond. You’ll need to thin it out regularly to prevent it from blocking out light or oxygen for other aquatic life.

Water changes: Since Duckweed grows quickly, it can deplete nutrients in the water, which may lead to algae growth. Regular water changes can help maintain balance.

Fertilization: Duckweed benefits from extra nutrients, particularly nitrogen, so adding aquarium fertilizer can promote growth. However, over-fertilizing can cause excessive growth and water quality issues.

Duckweed is a fast-growing, low-maintenance plant, often used for covering water surfaces or as a natural filter in aquariums and ponds. It provides shade, helps reduce algae growth, and can be a food source for some fish and invertebrates.
