Height:
• Size: Pothos is a vine that can grow 6-10 feet or more in the right conditions. In a controlled environment like a terrarium or paludarium, it will likely remain more compact but still needs space to trail or climb. You can manage its size through pruning or providing support structures like trellises or driftwood.
Lighting:
• Light Requirements: Pothos prefers bright, indirect light but can tolerate lower light conditions. It’s a very adaptable plant, so it can grow under fluorescent or LED lighting often used in terrariums and paludariums.
• Terrarium/Paludarium Lighting: In these setups, ensure the Pothos has access to indirect light, as direct sunlight can scorch its leaves. LED or full-spectrum grow lights work well to provide consistent lighting.
Maintenance:
• Pruning: Regular pruning is essential to prevent the plant from becoming too leggy. Trim back vines as necessary to maintain shape or to encourage bushier growth. You can propagate cuttings easily by placing them in water or soil.
Humidity/Watering:
• Humidity: Pothos is adaptable but thrives in higher humidity, making it perfect for a paludarium or terrarium. Aim for 50-70% humidity, but it can tolerate lower humidity levels.
• Watering: Water when the top 1-2 inches of soil feel dry. Ensure the setup has proper drainage to avoid root rot. Pothos is relatively forgiving with watering, but overwatering should be avoided. If grown in a more humid environment, you might need to water less frequently.
With these care tips, your Pothos should do well in a terrarium or paludarium, offering a lush, green presence that can climb or trail throughout the space!
